Customer Review: Below Average Quality Pizza Cutter...

I first want to make it very clear that I was surprised with this pizza cutter being of poor quality. I was very happy with the Pedrini Black & Satin Stainless Steel Spaghetti Server, so figured I'd get this to match that. In fact I actually bought two of their pasta servers I was so pleased by them.
I'm very skilled with using pizza cutters, I cut equally well using either hand. I've used well over a 100 different pizza cutters in my lifetime. I'm about as well versed as a person can be when it comes to the cheap style ones especially haha.
The blade does not spin or cut well, it also tends to rip the cheese off the pizza. So you end up with slices that don't have any cheese on top of them. The finger guard on this product has jagged edges and I've cut myself on it several times. I'd not let a child use this product for the faulty guard alone. When mine came it already seemed to have a small gash that created rough edges. I wash this product by hand very carefully and treat it gently. Yet for some reason it seems there are more jagged edges and chips especially on the top part of the finger guard. This makes it into something very easy to slice your hand or finger open on.
I'd honestly say this is no better then the cheap pizza cutters you can buy for a buck. I actually have several pizza cutters like that which I prefer over this one. The only positive I can say about this item is the handle looks well constructed. The wheel does not wobble either, nor does it really spin or cut for that matter :)... Perhaps if it didn't have a finger guard and the wheel worked better it would be worth owning. Anybody that would give this product 5 stars has probably never used a good pizza cutter in their life...
If you really need a Pizza Cutter... Please spend a few extra bucks and buy the Leifheit Feel It Stainless Steel Line Pizza Cutter. That is the best pizza cutter I've ever used in my life and it has a very heavy weight to it. Pedrini does make some quality items like their Pedrini Black & Satin Stainless Steel Spaghetti Server in the same line. This Pizza Cutter to my surprise did not turn out to be one of them.
